HISTORY
The Postsaver system was originally developed in the early 1990’s and has been in continual volume production and use for over 16 years in a wide range of demanding applications in both the USA and UK.

DESCRIPTION
The Postsaver system is manufactured in the E.U. and consists of a heavy gauge thermoplastic Polyethylene outer sleeve lined with a meltable bituminous sealer.
In use the Postsaver sleeve is placed over the in-ground section of the post then heated using a simple high throughput application machine at the point of production. This causes the bituminous liner to melt and seal the surface of the timber whilst the outer sleeve shrinks down tightly on to the pole.
This creates a tough dual layer barrier which keeps the preservative in and the causes of decay out even in the wettest ground conditions.

LEGISLATION
The E.U is currently considering restrictions/full ban on the use of Creosote as a wood preservative for use on utility poles.
Irrespective of the outcome in forthcoming changes in E.U Biocidal legislation the Postsaver barrier system offers a valid solution to the continued use of timber utility poles. Postsaver can be used to prevent soil and groundwater contamination with creosote or as a means of giving acceptable lifespan with non- creosote treatments should creosote be banned for use in ground contact.

TESTING & ACCREDITATION
Since inception the POSTSAVER product has been subjected to a range of on-going and exhaustive laboratory and field trials. Postsaver has been tested by the BRE (Building Research Establishment) to EN252-1989 and EN 807. Postsaver is also subject to A.W.P.A. (American wood protection association) approval for use on timber in ground contact at reduced preservative retention levels . Postsaver also has approval from the American I.C.C. (International code council) for the use of
the Postsaver system to protect safety critical, large section structural timber building supports . a testament to the effectiveness of Postsaver’s excellent barrier effect in preventing ground decay. |
Please contact us for copies of our test reports/certificates and other comprehensive background test information relating to the Postsaver barrier systems.

HANDLING AND INSTALLATION
Postsaver treated poles can be stored, handled and installed in any of the normal ways

LIFETIME COST SAVINGS
There has been a wide range of tests undertaken on the use of barrier systems (please contact us for relevant reports) as a means of extending the lifespan of timber products in ground contact. General findings indicate that a doubling of lifespan is not unreasonable on preservative treated timber protected with a barrier system.
Even based on a limited increase in utility pole life of 7 years Postsaver offers very significant cost savings, please contact us for further detailed information.
